You can connect a YouTube channel on any plan. Each channel counts as one of your plan’s social accounts. See Which social accounts can I connect? You connect a channel, not a Google account. You sign in with Google, and PublishBuddy lists the channel that comes with that sign-in.

What you need first

  • A Google account that has a YouTube channel, or that manages one.
  • If the channel belongs to a Brand Account, the Google account you sign in with needs to manage it.
A Google account with no channel can’t be connected. Make the channel on YouTube first.

Connect your channel

1

Open the networks

Click Accounts in the sidebar, then Add Social Accounts. Click the YouTube tile.
2

Sign in with Google

A Google window opens. Pick the Google account that owns your channel. If Google asks you to choose between your own account and a Brand Account, pick the one the channel belongs to. Then allow PublishBuddy access. If no window opens, your browser blocked the pop-up. See The login window didn’t open.
3

Add the channel

Back in PublishBuddy, a window lists your channel. Click Connect next to it. The button changes to Connected. Then click Done.

What you’ll see

A message confirms it, like “1 YouTube channel added”. PublishBuddy takes you back to Accounts, and your channel shows up in the list.

Add another channel

Run through the steps again. When Google asks which account to use, pick the account or Brand Account that has the other channel.

When you post to YouTube

YouTube posts need a video. The post window has extra YouTube fields, like the title and who can see the video. See Post types for each network.

Common problems

The Google account you picked has no channel. Or you picked your own account when the channel sits on a Brand Account. See No YouTube channels found.
The message says “please ensure you enable all permissions and try again.” Usually the channel you signed in with is already connected in this workspace. Look for it on Accounts. To add a different channel, connect again and pick that channel’s account in the Google window.
Google ended PublishBuddy’s access, or someone removed PublishBuddy from the Google account’s connected apps. Reconnect the channel with the same Google account.
