What you see

  • A social account isn’t in the row of accounts on Engage.
  • An account shows no posts.
  • A post shows comments on the network, but none in Engage.
  • A comment from today isn’t there yet.
  • The count on a post card is higher than the comments you see.

Why it happens

The network doesn’t bring comments into Engage. Here’s where each network stands today:
  • Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn company pages: comments come in.
  • X and Threads: the account and its posts show, but comments don’t come in yet.
  • Bluesky: only replies posted by your own account come in. Comments from other people don’t.
  • LinkedIn profiles: posts don’t load for a personal profile. Engage works with company pages.
  • TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Telegram: these accounts don’t show in Engage at all.
The account is new. When you connect an account, PublishBuddy imports its posts in the background. This can take a while. A banner may say “We’ve connected your account and are fetching the latest data.” It can go away before the import is done. New comments come in once a day. There’s no refresh button on Engage. A comment left today usually shows up tomorrow.
  • Facebook: in runs that start at 05:45, 09:00 and 12:55 UTC.
  • Instagram and LinkedIn: overnight, UTC time.
The comment is older than PublishBuddy looks.
  • Facebook: when you connect, only comments from the 3 days before come in. After that, posts older than 90 days aren’t checked.
  • Instagram: after the first import, only posts from the last 60 days are checked.
  • LinkedIn: only your latest 100 posts are checked.
Only part of the thread shows.
  • Each post shows its 15 newest comments.
  • On Instagram, replies under someone’s comment don’t come in. Only the comments themselves do.
The number on a post card is the total the network reports, so it can be higher than what Engage shows. The account needs reconnecting. PublishBuddy can’t fetch new comments for it, and replies to it fail. Look for a red warning icon on Accounts. The account is locked. If you moved to a smaller plan, accounts over the limit show Locked on Accounts. They don’t appear in the row on Engage. You dismissed it. Dismiss Comment only clears a comment from your screen. Open another post and come back, and it shows again. You don’t have access to the account. On a team, you see only the accounts the owner or an admin gave you.

How to fix it

1

Check the network

If the account is on X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest or Telegram, use the network’s own app for comments for now.
2

Reconnect if needed

Open Accounts in the sidebar. If the account shows a red warning icon, reconnect it. See Reconnect a social account.
3

Give it a day

New accounts and new comments come in with the next daily fetch. Check back tomorrow.
4

Sync now on Business

On the Business plan, click Sync Analytics on the Analytics page. It fetches the account’s posts and comments right away.
5

Open the post on the network

Click View Post above the comments. You can read and answer every comment there.

When to email us

Email hello@publishbuddy.com if a Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn company page account still shows no posts two days after you connected it. Include:
  • the social account and network
  • when you connected it
  • a link to a post whose comments are missing
