Which networks work with Engage
X and Threads accounts show their posts in Engage, but their comments don’t come in yet. So there’s nothing to reply to. See Why don’t I see comments in Engage? for the details.
Reply to a comment
1
Open Engage
Click Engage in the sidebar. You’ll see “Select a social account to start engaging with your audience”.
2
Pick a social account
Click an account’s picture in the row at the top. On a phone, pick it under Accounts. Engage shows one account at a time.
3
Click a post
The Posts panel lists the account’s posts, newest first. Click the post you want. Its comments open in the Comments panel next to it.
4
Click Reply
Every comment has a Reply button under it. Click it and a box opens with “Add a comment…” inside.
5
Write and send
Type your reply. Use the smiley button to add an emoji. Click Comment to send it, or Cancel to close the box.
What you see for each post
The Posts panel shows every post PublishBuddy has fetched for the account, including posts you made on the network itself. Above the comments, View Post opens the post on the network in a new tab. Each comment shows its text and how long ago it was posted. The commenter’s full name isn’t shown, at most the first letter. To see who wrote it, use View Post. When comments come in
PublishBuddy fetches comments in the background. There’s no refresh button on Engage.- New accounts: the first import of posts can take a while. A banner may say “We’ve connected your account and are fetching the latest data.” It can go away before the import is done.
- Facebook: checked once a day, in runs starting at 05:45, 09:00 and 12:55 UTC, for posts up to 90 days old. The first import only brings in comments from the 3 days before you connected.
- Instagram: once a day, overnight UTC time, for posts from the last 60 days. The first import covers up to a year.
- LinkedIn: once a day, overnight UTC time, for your latest 100 posts.
What a reply can include
- Text and emoji only. You can’t add a photo, video or file.
- Up to 1,000 characters. A longer reply stops with “The text must not be greater than 1000 characters.”
- It posts as the social account, like a Facebook Page or Instagram account, not as you personally.
