What you see

You click a network on the Connect a new social account screen, or Reconnect on an account. Then one of these happens:
  • Nothing happens.
  • You see “Failed to connect” with the network’s name and “Please try again.”
  • On a reconnect, you see “Failed to reconnect social profile. Please try again.”
  • The account’s spinner keeps turning and never stops.

Why it happens

Each network’s login opens in a small pop-up window. Browsers block some pop-ups to stop unwanted ads. PublishBuddy’s login window opens a moment after you click, and some browsers block it for that reason. Other causes:
  • An ad blocker or privacy extension blocked the window.
  • The window opened behind the main browser window.
  • You closed the login window before you finished. PublishBuddy keeps waiting for it.

How to fix it

1

Allow pop-ups for PublishBuddy

Most browsers show a blocked pop-up icon at the end of the address bar. Click it and choose to always allow pop-ups from app.publishbuddy.com.
2

Check for a hidden window

Look behind the main browser window, or on your other screen, for a login window that’s already open.
3

Reload the page

If a spinner keeps turning, reload PublishBuddy. Nothing is lost.
4

Try again

Click the network again, or Reconnect. Finish the login in the window, and keep it open until it closes by itself.
Still blocked? Turn off ad blockers for app.publishbuddy.com, or try another browser.
Bluesky and Telegram don’t use a login window. If one of those won’t connect, the cause is something else. See Connect your social accounts.

When to email us

Email hello@publishbuddy.com if no window opens after you’ve allowed pop-ups. Include:
  • your browser and its version
  • the network you tried
  • the exact message you saw, or a screenshot
