What you see
- On Accounts: a red warning icon next to the account. Hover over it to read “This social profile needs to be reconnected”.
- In the composer: the account is greyed out with “Social account needs to be refreshed.” and a Refresh it now link.
- By email and under the bell: “Action needed: reconnect [account]”. The email has a Reconnect [account] button.
- On failed posts: “The connected account needs to be refreshed. Please reconnect it and try again.” or “[account] needs to be refreshed.”
Why it happens
The network stopped letting PublishBuddy post for you. Common causes:- You changed the password on the network.
- You removed PublishBuddy from the network’s list of connected apps.
- The network’s access expired. Some networks end it after a set time.
- Your role on a Page or company page changed or was removed.
- The network asked you to log in again for security reasons.
How to fix it
1
Reconnect the account
On Accounts, click the ⋯ menu next to the account and choose Reconnect. For Facebook, Reconnect All does every Page at once. The full steps are in Reconnect an account.
2
Log in with the same account
Use the login that owns or manages the account. Keep every permission the network asks for switched on.
3
Check for the success message
You’ll see “The profile has been successfully reconnected.” The red icon goes away.
4
Send failed posts again
Open Posts, switch to Failed and click Retry on each post. Or click Publish Again to pick a new time.
On a team, each person may post through their own connection or the owner’s. A reconnect only fixes the connection of the person who does it. See Your connection or the owner’s.
When to email us
Email hello@publishbuddy.com if the warning comes back within a day or two, or the reconnect shows an error. Include:- the account name and network
- the exact error, or a screenshot
- whether you’re the workspace owner or a team member
