You write a post once and send it to several social accounts. Then you can change the text for one account without touching the others. Each network’s own options, like a YouTube title or a Pinterest board, are set the same way.

How the composer shares a post

When you pick more than one account, the composer starts in shared mode. The text box says “This text will be used for all profiles.” Whatever you type goes to every account you picked. Some parts of a post are always shared. Others can be different for each account.
Media is always shared. If one account needs a different image or video, make a separate post for that account.

Tailor the text for one account

1

Pick all your accounts first

Click New Post and select every account under Accounts on the left. Do this before you tailor anything (see the warning below).
2

Write the shared text

Type the text most accounts should get. Add your media too.
3

Click an account's avatar

A row of avatars sits above the text box, one for each account you picked. Click one. It gets a colored ring, and the text box now holds only that account’s version.
4

Edit that version

Change the text for that account. Add @mentions or #hashtags that only make sense on that network. The other accounts keep the shared text.
5

Check the preview

The Post Previews panel on the right shows how each account’s version looks.
Once you click an avatar, every edit goes to one account at a time. Click another avatar to edit that account’s version. There’s no button to go back to shared mode for the same post.
Adding or removing an account after you tailor the text can undo your changes. The composer may copy one account’s text to all of them. Pick your accounts first, then tailor.
While you tailor one account, type emoji with your keyboard. The emoji button adds the emoji to every account’s text, not just the one you’re editing.

Set a network’s own options

Some networks need extra details. Their fields only show up when that network’s account is active. If you picked one account, it’s active already. If you picked several, click the account’s avatar first. For example, say you post to Facebook and YouTube together. Click the YouTube avatar and fill in Title. Then click the Facebook avatar to add a button. Each set of fields belongs to its own account. Follow-up comments work the same way. Add a comment only shows while an account is active, and its comments go to that account only. See Add a follow-up comment.

Before you publish

PublishBuddy checks a few things when you save. If something is missing for one account, you’ll see a message and nothing is saved yet. Common ones:
  • “Title field is required.” means a YouTube account has no Title.
  • “You must select a Pinterest Board for this post first.” means a Pinterest account has no board.
  • “Instagram does not support this type of post.” means the post has no media. Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest need at least one image or video.
Fix the account it names, then save again.
