What you see

The post shows as published, but there’s a box on it under Published on the Posts page: “A comment on this post failed to publish.” The reason shows below it. If more than one comment failed, the box says how many. You also get a notice under the bell, and an email if it’s switched on: “A comment on your post to [account] failed to publish”.

Why it happens

The post and its comment are sent separately. The post can go out even when the comment fails. These are the reasons you may see: The reason may end with The platform said: and the network’s own message. Is the network supported? Follow-up comments work on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky and X. They don’t work on Stories. Only Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky and X take an image or video in a comment.

How to fix it

1

Check the account's permissions

For a Facebook Page, your login needs a role on the Page that lets it comment. Then reconnect the account and keep every permission switched on.
2

Reconnect if asked

If the reason says the account needs refreshing, reconnect it. See An account needs to be reconnected.
3

Post the comment yourself

PublishBuddy doesn’t try a failed comment again. Open the post on the network and add the comment there.
4

Fix it for next time

Shorten the comment, or remove the media if the network doesn’t take it in comments.
Follow-up comments are on the Pro and Business plans, and in the free trial.
