# My post failed to publish

> Find your failed posts, read the reason PublishBuddy shows, and send the post out again.

## Where to find failed posts

* **Dashboard:** the **Recently Failed Posts** card shows how many there are. Click **View All** to see them.
* **Posts:** open **Posts** in the sidebar and switch the status menu to **Failed**.
* **Email:** you get "Your post to \[account] failed to publish", with the reason. It can take up to 15 minutes to arrive. The same notice shows under the bell in the app.

Each failed post shows a red box with the reason it failed.

## What the reason means

| The reason starts with | What it means | Read more |
| - | - | - |
| "The connected account needs to be refreshed." | The network ended PublishBuddy's access to the account. | [Reconnect the account](/help/troubleshooting/reconnect-account) |
| "\[account name] needs to be refreshed." | The same: the account needs reconnecting. | [Reconnect the account](/help/troubleshooting/reconnect-account) |
| "You're set to post to \[account] with your own connection" | You post through your own login, and you haven't connected it yet. | [Your connection or the owner's](/help/connect/own-or-owner-connection) |
| "The scheduled publishing time was missed." | The post couldn't go out within 24 hours of its time. | [The scheduled time was missed](/help/troubleshooting/missed-time) |
| "The platform rejected this post content." or "The platform rejected this post." | The network refused the post. | [The network rejected my post](/help/troubleshooting/content-rejected) |
| "The connected account does not have permission to publish." | The login you connected with can't post to this account. | See below |
| "Pinterest would not add the pin to the selected board." | Pinterest refused that board. | See below |
| "Publishing failed after temporary platform errors." | The network had a short problem. | See below |
| "Publishing could not be confirmed." | PublishBuddy doesn't know if the post went out. | See below |
| "Failed by technical issues." | No reason was recorded. | See below |

Sometimes the reason ends with **The platform said:** and a quote. That's the network's own message. It often tells you exactly what to change.

**No permission to publish.** Check that your login still has a role on the Page or account that lets it post. Then reconnect the account and keep every permission switched on.

**Pinterest board.** Pick a different board on the post. Or reconnect your Pinterest account, which also loads boards you made since you connected.

**Temporary errors.** Wait a little, then click **Retry**.

**Could not be confirmed.** Check the account on the network first. If the post is there, don't send it again, or it goes out twice.

## How to send it again

<Steps>
  <Step title="Fix the cause">
    Use the table above. Most failures need a reconnect or a change to the post.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the post if you need to">
    Failed posts have no **Edit** button. Click the post's date and time instead to open the edit window.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Retry or pick a new time">
    * **Retry** sends the post again right away. A queued post goes back into its queue slot.
    * **Publish Again** opens a date picker. Pick a time and click **Schedule**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Editors who need approval don't see **Retry**. Ask an owner or admin to send the post again.
</Note>

Don't need the post anymore? Click the trash icon, then **Remove**.

## When to email us

Email [hello@publishbuddy.com](mailto:hello@publishbuddy.com) if the same post fails again after you fixed the cause, or the reason says "Failed by technical issues." Include:

* the social account and network
* the time the post was due
* the full reason, including any **The platform said:** part
