# My Instagram account doesn't show up

> You logged in, but your Instagram account isn't in the list. Check the account type, the Facebook Page link and the login option you picked.

## What you see

You pick **Instagram**, log in, and your account isn't in the list under "Choose which Instagram accounts to add."

Or a window called **Missing Instagram Data** opens. It says:

"We didn’t receive any data from Instagram, please ensure you enable all permissions and try again."

Sometimes no list opens at all after you log in.

## Why it happens

When you click **Instagram** on the **Connect a new social account** screen, you choose how to log in:

* **Instagram via Facebook** (the default) logs in with Facebook. It only finds Instagram accounts that are linked to a Facebook Page you share.
* **Instagram** logs in with Instagram itself. It finds the one account you log in with.

Your account goes missing for one of these reasons:

* **It's a personal account.** PublishBuddy needs a professional account, either Business or Creator.
* **It isn't linked to a Facebook Page.** This only matters for **Instagram via Facebook**.
* **You didn't share the Page.** When Facebook asks which Pages to share, the Page linked to your Instagram account has to be ticked.
* **You logged in as someone else.** The browser may have used another Facebook or Instagram login that was already open.
* **It's already connected.** Accounts already in this workspace don't show in the list again. If everything you shared is connected, you see **Missing Instagram Data**.

## How to fix it

  <Step title="Make the account professional">
    In the Instagram app, switch the account to a Business or Creator account. It's free.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the right login option">
    Is the account linked to a Facebook Page you manage? Pick **Instagram via Facebook**. If it isn't, pick **Instagram** and log in with the Instagram account itself.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Log in again">
    Click **Try again**, or go back to **Accounts** and click **Add Social Accounts**. Check the name in the login window before you continue.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the Page and every permission">
    With **Instagram via Facebook**, tick the Page that goes with your Instagram account. Keep every permission switched on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect it">
    Click **Connect** next to the account, then **Done**.
  </Step>

<Tip>
  If no list opens after you log in with **Instagram via Facebook**, try the **Instagram** option instead. It doesn't need a Facebook Page.
