# My follow-up comment didn't post

> The post went out but its follow-up comment didn't. See the reason, check the account's permissions, and post the comment yourself.

## What you see

The post shows as published, but there's a box on it under **Published** on the **Posts** page:

"A comment on this post failed to publish."

The reason shows below it. If more than one comment failed, the box says how many.

You also get a notice under the bell, and an email if it's switched on: "A comment on your post to \[account] failed to publish".

## Why it happens

The post and its comment are sent separately. The post can go out even when the comment fails. These are the reasons you may see:

| Reason | What it means |
| - | - |
| "The connected account is not allowed to comment as this profile. On a Facebook Page, it needs Community activity access or full control." | The login you connected with can't comment as the Page or account. |
| "The connected account needs to be refreshed before comments can be published. Please reconnect it." | The account needs reconnecting. |
| "The platform rejected this comment." | The network refused the comment, often for its length, a link or its media. |
| "The comment failed because of a temporary platform error." | The network had a short problem. |
| "The comment was not published in time." | The comment couldn't go out on time. |
| "The comment could not be confirmed. It may or may not have been published on the platform." | Check the post on the network. The comment may be there. |

The reason may end with **The platform said:** and the network's own message.

**Is the network supported?** Follow-up comments work on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky and X. They don't work on Stories. Only Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky and X take an image or video in a comment.

## How to fix it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the account's permissions">
    For a Facebook Page, your login needs a role on the Page that lets it comment. Then reconnect the account and keep every permission switched on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reconnect if asked">
    If the reason says the account needs refreshing, reconnect it. See [An account needs to be reconnected](/help/troubleshooting/reconnect-account).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Post the comment yourself">
    PublishBuddy doesn't try a failed comment again. Open the post on the network and add the comment there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fix it for next time">
    Shorten the comment, or remove the media if the network doesn't take it in comments.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Follow-up comments are on the Pro and Business plans, and in the free trial.
