# Some CSV rows were skipped

> Your CSV import brought in fewer posts than your file has rows, or some media is missing. Find which rows, see why, and fix them.

## What you see

When the import is done, the bell shows "Your CSV posts are ready to review". If rows were skipped, it adds how many:

"Open the composer to review your import. 3 row(s) were skipped due to validation errors."

Click the notification. The composer opens with a warning message, "Some of your CSV needs a look:". Below it is one line for each skipped row, like "Row 4 skipped:" and the reason. It lists up to 5 rows, then "…and 2 more." (with your count).

## Why it happens

Each reason in the message matches one of these:

| Reason in the message | What to fix |
| - | - |
| "Date could not be parsed." | Write the date like `2026-11-03 09:30`. |
| "Message must be at most 10000 characters." | Shorten the text. Emoji and accented letters count as more than one character here. |
| "Description must be at most 65000 characters." | Shorten the description. |
| "Link must be at most 250 characters." or "Link format is invalid." | Use a full link that starts with `https://`. |
| "Each label must be at most 250 characters." | Shorten the label. |
| "At most 8 media URLs are allowed per row." | Split the media over two rows. |
| "Media URL is invalid or must use http(s):" and the link | Use a full link that starts with `http` or `https`. |
| "Each non-empty row must include at least one of Message, Link, or Media URLs." | Add text, a link or media to the row. |

Rows that are completely empty are left out without a message. That's normal.

**Missing images or videos.** PublishBuddy downloads each media link during the import. If a download fails, the file is dropped from that post without a warning. Links must open the file itself, to anyone, without a login.

**A post has no date.** If the composer can't read a date, the card comes in without one. Check the dates on the cards before you schedule.

## How to fix it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Note the row numbers">
    Copy the lines from the warning message. It stays open until you close it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fix those rows in your spreadsheet">
    Use the table above. Delete the rows that came in fine, so you don't import the same posts twice.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Import the fixed rows">
    Click **New Post**, open the bulk menu (the layers icon) and choose **Import CSV**. Add the file and click **Import**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check every card">
    Look at the media and the date on each card before you save.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Not sure about the columns? In the import window, click **Download a template** next to "Not sure of the columns?" It has the right column names and two example rows.
</Tip>
