# How do I upload photos and videos to the Media Library?

> Add images and videos from your computer or phone to your workspace's Media Library, watch them upload, and remove the ones you don't need.

**Plans:** Pro and Business, and the free trial.

The Media Library is where your workspace keeps its images and videos. Upload a file once, then use it in as many posts as you like. Everyone in the workspace sees the same library.

## Find the Media Library

Click **Media Library** in the menu on the left. The page is called **Your Library**. Under the title, a line counts what's at this level, like "2 folders · 14 files".

When the library is empty, you'll see "Add media to your library for quick scheduling and easy access" with two buttons: **New folder** and **Add Media**.

## Upload files

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the upload window">
    Click **Add Media**. The **Attach Media** window opens.

    If you're inside a folder, the window says "Uploading to" and the folder name. Your files go into that folder.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your files">
    Drag files into the box, or click **Browse files** to pick them. On a phone, tap **Upload files**.

    You can pick several files at once.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for each file to finish">
    Each file shows a small progress circle while it uploads. When it's done, you see its size under the name.

    To drop a file before you save, click the **X** next to it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Upload">
    Click **Upload** at the bottom of the window. You'll see "Media uploaded successfully!" and the files show up in your library.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Add up to 10 files at a time on this page. With more than 10, you get an error. The files are still saved, but at the top level of the library instead of in your folder. Upload them in smaller batches to keep them where you want.

The same window also lets you paste image links and import from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Unsplash. See [Import media from other apps or a link](/help/media/import-media).

<Note>
  Ignore the "SVG, PNG, or GIF. Max size 20Mb" line under the upload box. It's out of date. You can upload images and videos up to 2 GB each. See [What files can I upload?](/help/media/file-types-and-sizes)
</Note>

## If a file doesn't upload

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Only images and videos can be uploaded." | One of the files was something else, like a PDF. The other files still upload. |
| "Failed to upload media file." under a file | Remove it with the **X** and try again. Check that it's under 2 GB. |
| "Please wait for media file(s) to upload first." | A file is still uploading. Wait for every progress circle to finish, then click **Upload**. |
| "Media file(s) failed to upload." | One file in the list failed. Remove it, then click **Upload** again. |

## Files you add to posts land here too

When you add an image or video while writing a post, PublishBuddy saves it to the library as well. It goes to the top level, not into a folder. That way you can reuse it later without uploading it again. See [Use library media in a post](/help/media/use-library-media).

## Remove files

To remove one file, click the three dots in its top corner. Choose **Remove Media**, then **Remove** to confirm.

To remove several, click each file to select it. A **Manage Media** bar appears at the bottom with the number of items selected. Click **Remove**, then confirm.

Removing a file takes it out of the library. Posts that already use it keep it, including scheduled ones.

## On the Free plan

On Free, the Media Library page shows an upgrade window instead of your files. It reads "Store, organize, and reuse your content with the Media Library."

Click **Free 14 Day Trial** to try it. The trial gives you everything in Business for 14 days, and you don't need a card. If you've already used your trial, the button reads **Upgrade Plan**. See [Plans, the free trial and AI credits](/help/plans-trial-and-credits#the-14-day-free-trial).

The plan that counts is the workspace owner's. If you're a team member in a Pro or Business workspace, you can use its library on any plan.
