# Create and schedule a post

> Write a post once for several accounts, then choose when it goes out: now, at a set time, or in the queue.

You write a post once in the composer and send it to as many accounts as you like. Then you decide when it goes out.

## Write the post

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the composer">
    Click **New Post** at the top of any page. The **Create Post** window opens.

    You can also start from the **Calendar**: hover over a day and click **Add a post**. That sets the date and time for you.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick your accounts">
    On the left, under **Accounts**, select every account the post should go to. PublishBuddy remembers your picks for next time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write your text">
    PublishBuddy uses the text you type for every account you picked. To change it for one account, click that account's avatar above the text box and edit its version.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add media">
    Click the media icon (tooltip "Add media") or drop files into the box. In the **Attach Media** window you can upload files, paste links under **Upload From External URLs**, or import from **Drive**, **Dropbox**, **OneDrive** or **Unsplash**. Then click **Upload**. A post holds up to 8 media files.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the preview">
    On a computer, the **Post Previews** panel on the right shows how the post looks on each network. On a phone, tap the eye icon.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Pick **Post**, **Reel** or **Story** for networks that have them. YouTube and Pinterest posts also need a **Title**. Pinterest asks for a board under **Boards**.
</Tip>

## Choose when it goes out

The main button says **Add to Queue**. Click the arrow next to it for the other options.

| Option | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Add to Queue** | The post goes to the back of the queue and takes the next free posting time. You need [queue times set up](/help/set-up-your-queue) first. |
| **Publish Next** | The post goes to the front of the queue. |
| **Schedule** | You pick a date and time. Click **Schedule** to confirm. |
| **Publish Now** | The post goes out right away. |

When it's saved, you'll see "Post(s) created successfully."

Times use your own time zone. To change it, click your avatar, choose **Settings**, and set **Timezone**. The same page has **Time Format** for 12-hour or 24-hour clocks.

## Save a draft

Not ready yet? Click **Save as Draft**. The arrow next to it has two more options:

* **Save and Request Approval** sends the post to an owner or admin to check. See [Approve posts before they go out](/help/approve-posts).
* **Schedule and Save as Draft** saves the draft with a date already set.

## Find and change your posts

Open **Posts** in the sidebar. The status menu switches between **Queue**, **Published**, **Failed**, **For Approval** and **Drafts**, each with a count.

* **Edit** a post to change its text, media or time. Change the date in the **Edit Post** window, then click **Save**.
* **Reuse** (the circular arrows icon) opens a new post with the same content.
* The trash icon removes a post, after you confirm with **Remove**.
* In the queue you can drag posts into a new order.

## When a post fails

Failed posts sit under **Failed** on the Posts page, with the reason they failed. The most common one is "The connected account needs to be refreshed. Please reconnect it and try again." In that case, [reconnect the account](/help/connect-accounts#reconnect-an-account) first.

Then click **Publish Again** on the post and pick a new time.

## Free plan limits

The Free plan holds 10 scheduled posts per account and 20 drafts per workspace. Go past that and you'll see "10 scheduled posts allowed only. Please upgrade your plan." or "20 draft posts allowed only. Please upgrade your plan." Pro and Business have no limit. See [Plans, the free trial and AI credits](/help/plans-trial-and-credits).

## Add a follow-up comment

On Pro and Business, click **Add a comment** under the text to post a comment right after the post goes live. It's a handy spot for a link. Use the comment's menu to **Add a delay** in minutes, hours or days.

Follow-up comments work on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky and X. Comments on Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky and X can include one image or video. They aren't available for Stories.
