# Remove a social account

> Take a social account out of your workspace, and what happens to its posts, analytics and history.

Removing a social account takes it out of your workspace and frees up one of your plan's social accounts. It also deletes what PublishBuddy holds for that account. Read what goes before you remove one.

<Note>
  The workspace owner can remove accounts. So can an admin, if the owner turned on **Allow the admin to add or remove social accounts** for them. Editors can't.
</Note>

## What happens when you remove an account

<Warning>
  You can't undo this. Connecting the account again later doesn't bring its posts back.
</Warning>

| What | What happens |
| - | - |
| Scheduled and queued posts | Deleted. They won't go out. |
| Drafts and posts waiting for approval | Deleted |
| Published and failed posts | Deleted from PublishBuddy, so they leave your **Posts** list. Posts already live on the network stay there. |
| Analytics and history in PublishBuddy | Deleted |
| The account's queue times | Deleted |
| Team members' access to it | Removed |
| Your media library | Kept |

Removing the account doesn't change anything on the network itself. PublishBuddy just stops posting there. To cut its access completely, also remove PublishBuddy in that network's own settings for connected apps.

## Remove an account

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the account's menu">
    Click **Accounts** in the sidebar. Click the **⋯** menu next to the account and choose **Remove Account**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    A window titled **Delete Social Account** asks "Are you sure you want to remove this account?" Click **Remove**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can also do it from the account's settings. Click the account's name on **Accounts**. Under **Remove Social Account**, click **Remove Account**, then **Remove**. This page spells out the warning: "All planned posts, analytics, and historical data will be permanently erased."

<Note>
  In the list you see after logging in to a network, clicking **Connected** also removes that account. It doesn't ask first.
</Note>

## Only clear its scheduled posts

Want to keep the account but wipe its plan? Use **Delete All Scheduled Posts** instead. The owner and admins can do this.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the account's settings">
    Click **Accounts** in the sidebar, then click the account's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Remove the posts">
    Under **Delete All Scheduled Posts**, click **Remove Posts**. A window asks "Are you sure you want to delete all scheduled posts for this social account? It cannot be undone!" Click **Remove**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You'll see "Scheduled posts have been successfully removed."

<Warning>
  This deletes every post for the account that was set to go out at a set time or through the queue. That includes ones that already went out, so they leave your **Posts** list too. Posts that went out with **Publish Now** stay. The account itself stays connected.
</Warning>
