# Post with your own connection or the owner's

> Choose whose login PublishBuddy uses when a team member's posts go out: Use Owner's Account Connection or Use Member's Account Connection.

Team members are on Pro and Business. See [Invite your team and set roles](/help/team-members-and-roles).

When a team member's post goes out, PublishBuddy has to post through someone's login to that network. That login is the **connection**. For each team member and each social account, you choose which connection their posts use.

## The two options

| Option | Whose login posts | The team member needs |
| - | - | - |
| **Use Owner's Account Connection** (the default) | The workspace owner's | Nothing. They never need the login for that network. |
| **Use Member's Account Connection** | The team member's own | Their own login with access to the same account. For a Facebook Page, they need to manage the Page in Facebook themselves. |

The setting belongs to the post's author. If an editor wrote the post, the editor's setting for that account decides which login posts it. That holds even when an admin approves it.

Account analytics always come through the owner's connection, whatever the setting.

## Change the setting for a team member

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Team Members">
    Click **Team Members** in the sidebar. Click the **⋯** menu next to the person and choose **Edit Social Accounts**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the connection">
    Each account has two drop-downs. The second one is the connection. Choose **Use Owner's Account Connection** or **Use Member's Account Connection**. Then click **Save**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You also set it when you invite someone, in the last step of **Invite Team Member**.

## Connect your own login as a team member

Set to **Use Member's Account Connection**? Connect your own login before you post.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the account's menu">
    Click **Accounts** in the sidebar. Click the **⋯** menu next to the account and choose **Reconnect**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Log in">
    Log in to the network with your own login. It has to reach the same account. Another account stops with "Make sure you are logged into the correct account before reconnecting."
  </Step>
</Steps>

You'll see "The profile has been successfully reconnected." From then on, your posts to that account go out through your login.

Until you do this, the account shows the red reconnect warning for you, and your posts to it fail with this message:

"You're set to post to \[account] with your own connection, but you haven't connected \[account] yet."

The message tells you to reconnect from your account. If the owner's connection works, it also suggests asking the owner to switch you back.

## When an admin adds a new account

When an admin connects a new social account, PublishBuddy sets that admin to **Use Member's Account Connection** for it, with their own login.

The owner's connection for that account doesn't exist yet. So the owner should [reconnect the account](/help/connect/reconnect) once. That sets up the owner's connection, which analytics and anyone on **Use Owner's Account Connection** rely on.

## Which one to pick

* **Use Owner's Account Connection** keeps it simple. One login, yours, posts for everyone. Team members never handle network logins. If your connection breaks, you reconnect once and it's fixed for everyone on this setting.
* **Use Member's Account Connection** fits when a team member runs the account on the network themselves. Their posts go out through their login, and they keep it working by reconnecting it themselves.
