# Which of my hashtags get the most engagement?

> Hashtag Performance on the Analytics page and the Dashboard: how it's worked out, which posts count, and when it updates.

**Plans:** Business, and the 14-day free trial.

**Hashtag Performance** lists the hashtags you've used, with the engagement and reach of the posts that used them. It helps you see which hashtags go with your best posts.

## Where to find it

**On the Analytics page:** pick an account and a time period, then scroll down to **Hashtag Performance**. It lists up to 20 hashtags for that account and period, 8 to a page.

**On the Dashboard:** the **Hashtag Performance** card shows the top 8 for the accounts you've selected, over the last 90 days. Click **View All** to open the **Analytics** page for the first selected account.

If none of your posts in the period had a hashtag, the card doesn't appear.

## Read the table

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Hashtag** | The hashtag, without the posts it came from |
| **Engagement** | Reactions plus comments, added up across every post that used the hashtag |
| **Reach** | Reach added up across those posts. Where a post has no reach, its impressions are used instead |

The list is ranked by **Engagement**, highest first. Click **Engagement** or **Reach** to sort the page you're on by that column. Click again to flip the order.

A hashtag you used in 10 posts adds up all 10. So a hashtag you use often can rank above one that did better per post.

## Which posts count

* **Posts published in the period.** A post counts on the day it went out, in your time zone.
* **Every post on the account.** Posts you published outside PublishBuddy count too.
* **Hashtags in the post's text.** A hashtag is a `#` followed by letters, numbers or underscores.
* **Your own comments under your posts.** A hashtag in a comment your account left under its own post counts toward that post. Follow-up comments and replies sent from PublishBuddy count too.

Engagement and reach are added up from the posts' current numbers. So they keep growing as the posts get more reactions.

## When it updates

PublishBuddy looks for hashtags twice a day, at 08:00 and 16:00 UTC. It only reads a post once that post has its first numbers. So a hashtag from a post published today usually shows up tomorrow.

## Good to know

* **Accented letters and emoji cut a hashtag short.** `#café` shows as `#caf`. Hashtags in other alphabets may not show at all.
* **Reach isn't reach on every network.** On X, the **Reach** column adds up profile clicks, because X doesn't share reach. TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Telegram posts add 0 to **Reach**. See [Which analytics each network gives](/help/analytics/metrics-by-network).
* **The Dashboard counts each account apart.** If two accounts used the same hashtag, it's listed once for each.
* **Pinterest only shows on the Dashboard.** Pinterest accounts aren't on the **Analytics** page, but their pins count on the **Dashboard** card.

The same table is in your PDF reports. See [Export a PDF report](/help/analytics/pdf-report).
