# How do I save post ideas and generate new ones with AI?

> Keep post ideas on the Ideas page, let AI suggest one from a few answers about your business, and turn any idea into a post.

**Plans:** Free, Pro and Business. Generating ideas with AI works on every plan and uses no credits.

**Ideas** is a place to park post ideas until you're ready to use them. Each idea has a title, text, labels and media if you want them. When you're ready, one click turns it into a post.

## Save an idea yourself

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Ideas">
    Click **Ideas** in the sidebar. The page is called **Your Ideas** and shows how many you have.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click New Idea">
    The **New Idea** window opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill it in">
    Give it an **Idea Title**. Then write the text in the box below, the same way you would in a post. You can add images or videos too.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add labels if you like">
    Pick from **Labels**, or type a new one and choose **Add this as new tag**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Save Idea">
    You'll see "Idea created successfully." The idea shows as a card on the page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

A title can be up to 250 characters. An idea can hold up to 8 images or videos.

## Generate an idea with AI

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Generate Ideas">
    You'll find it at the top of **Your Ideas**. A panel called **Generate Idea** opens on the right.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Answer the questions">
    **What does your business do?** is the only one you must fill in. **Who is your ideal audience?** and **What do you want to achieve?** are optional, but they help. Each answer can be up to 250 characters.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Generate Ideas">
    The AI writes one idea with a title. You'll see "Idea generated successfully."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Keep it, or try again">
    You can edit the text right there. Click **Save Idea** to add it to your list. Click **Try Another** for a new one from the same answers.
  </Step>
</Steps>

To change your answers, click **Customize** next to "Need to change your answers?"

The AI works only from your answers. It doesn't look at your past posts or your Brand Kit. For ideas that use your own numbers and voice, ask the [AI Agent](/help/ai/ai-agent) instead. On Pro and Business, try the `/ideas` slash command.

### Is there a limit?

Generating ideas doesn't use AI credits. It shares a limit of 60 AI requests an hour per person with AI Assist, brand voice analysis and the AI Agent. If you hit it, you'll see an error like "Too Many Attempts." Wait a little and try again.

## Turn an idea into a post

Click **Create Post** on the idea's card. The Create Post window opens with the idea's text, labels and media already filled in. Pick your accounts, then schedule or queue it as usual.

The idea stays on your list after you use it. Delete it yourself when you're done.

You can also click **Create Post** inside the **Edit Idea** window.

## Edit or delete an idea

* **Edit:** click the pencil on the card, make your changes, and click **Update Idea**.
* **Delete:** click the trash icon, then **Remove**. This can't be undone.

## Use the AI Assistant inside an idea

The **New Idea** and **Edit Idea** windows have the same text box as the composer, with its **AI Assistant** button. On Pro and Business, it helps you write and rewrite the text. On Free, it tells you to upgrade your plan. Saving ideas and generating them stay free.

## Who can use Ideas

Ideas belong to the workspace. Everyone in it with the Editor role or higher can add, edit and delete them.
